Zeitwerk Minute Repeater Wins Accolades for A. Lange & Söhne

Technical Star at the Watchstars Awards 2015/2016:
The Zeitwerk Minute Repeater.

Earlier this month, the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater was named Technical Star of the year at the Watchstars Awards, and Walter Lange was also recognized for his lifework.

Composed of 51 international watch experts, the jury of the Watchstars Awards 2015/2016 chose the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater as the best watch in the Technical Stars category. The jury selected the German brand’s watch for its outstanding reinterpretation of this fascinating complication.

The independent watch prize is awarded in five categories. Only jury members may nominate models and cast votes. The awards were announced on March 17 during a press conference at the Baselworld show.

Also in Basel, Walter Lange received the jury’s honorary prize for his lifetime achievements by the Armbanduhren magazine and the weekly newspaper Welt am Sonntag.

The prize recognizes Walter Lange’s role in the renaissance of the watch industry in Glashütte after Germany was reunified. Walter Lange, 91, who was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany last year, commented: “The success of our watches is the biggest honor for me.”

Since it was re-established with a globally acclaimed wristwatch collection in 1994, the A. Lange & Söhne manufactory has received over 230 international product awards and entrepreneurship prizes.
