Stan Wawrinka, winner if the 2016 U.S. Open, wearing Audemars Piguet. |
Stan Wawrinka won his first US title in New York on Sunday, September
11 after battling with Novak Djokovic during four pulsating sets. Stan had
chosen to wear a custom-made dark pink rubber strap on his Audemars Piguet
watch during his victorious fortnight to match the color of his tennis outfit.
With the coveted trophy now in his hands, “il voit la vie en rose!”

The World Number 3 saved a match point during the game and
built confidence as he progressed in the tournament. After almost four hours of
high-intensity tennis, he secured the third Grand Slam victory of his career,
following his successes at Roland Garros in 2015 and the Australian Open in
2014. For the past three seasons, the Swiss tennis star has simply not lost a
single final he has competed in and won 11 tournaments!
Stan Wawrinka, whose battle sign is an index finger pointed
at his head, shows the mental strength that he has built up. “My goal is to
give everything I have to be the best I can,” said the 31 year old, who
perfectly embodies Audemars Piguet’s philosophy: “To break the rules, you must
first master them.”
